Warli Adivasi Revolt
●This revolt changed the lives of Adivasis and led to the enactment of the Tenancy Act and other democratic reforms in Maharashtra.
●The condition of the tribal people of Warli was horrendous in the 1940s.

●Most Adivasis had been reduced to the position of tenants or bonded laborers, bonded to the landlord (also the moneylender) in some way.
● The Warli Adivasi Revolt started out as a fight against bonded labor and went on to become a fight for wages for work, land ownership, and forest rights.

Keshub Chandra sen
●He was a Hindu philosopher and social reformer who attempted to incorporate Christian theology within the framework of Hindu thought.
●He became a member of the Brahmo Samaj in 1857but established his own breakaway “Bharatvarshiya Brahmo Samaj” in 1866.
●James Long also helped Sen establish a “British Indian Association” in the same year.

Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS)
●Bombay Natural History Society, a Non-governmental organization, was established in 1883.
●Function: Conducting research works and scientific observations of natural history.
● Vision: To spread awareness about nature through science-based research, conservation advocacy, education, scientific publications, nature tours, and other programs.
●BNHS is the partner of BirdLife International in India.
●It has been designated as a ‘Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation’ by the Department of Science and Technology.

Ashok Dalwai committee
●The committee on doubling farmers’ income (DFI) by 2022, headed by Ashok Dalwai, the CEO of Rainfed Area Authority.
●It will act as an ’empowered body’ to coordinate with different ministries as well as among various departments within the agriculture ministry.
●The DFI strategy as recommended by the Committee include seven sources of income growth viz.,
(i) improvement in crop productivity;. (ii) improvement in livestock productivity;
(iii) resource use efficiency or savings in the cost of production;
(iv) increase in the cropping intensity; (v) diversification towards high-value crops;
(vi) improvement in real prices received by farmers; and
(vii) a shift from farm to non-farm occupations.
